Dr. Brent James

Brent is originally from Wilson, Arkansas (pop. 939) where he spent most of his childhood playing in a fiercely competitive one-on-one basketball game with his brother on their driveway court.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and then attended Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. NSU provided excellent clinical experience in the diagnosis, treatment and management of eye disease but Brent chose to continue his education with a residency in Ocular Disease at Western Oklahoma Eye Center in Elk City, Oklahoma.

After several years of practice in Oklahoma, Brent moved back to Arkansas to be closer to family and friends. In August 2003, he opened James Eyecare Center with the desire to couple the utmost in eye care and the finest in eye wear – all in one stop.

Brent is a member of the Arkansas Optometric Association. He is active in his church, loves Razorback football (he anticipates it all year!), and enjoys a round of golf on a nice day.

Brent, his wife, Elizabeth, and their two children, Drew and Maggie, live in Little Rock.

Dr. Julie Dolven

Dr. Dolven is originally from Gosnell, a small town in Northeastern Arkansas. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and graduated Cum Laude from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. During her time at NSUOCO, Julie was inducted into Beta Sigma Kappa for academic excellence and was selected by her faculty and classmates to become a member of The Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society for outstanding professional and ethical leadership. She joined James Eyecare & Optics Gallery as an Associate Optometrist in 2011.

Julie became a published author in Optometry and Vision Science, the Journal of the American Academy of Optometry, in her fourth year of studies. She is a member of the Arkansas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Julie enjoys cooking, visiting the farmer’s market and learning to play golf from her husband. Every Saturday during football season at the Dolven household they will be Calling The Hogs!

Julie and her husband, Mark, live in central Arkansas and enjoy spending time with their two King Charles Spaniels, Winston and Roxie.
